Improving texts
with an AI texting response generator.

Heymarket is a B2B SaaS platform that enables teams to send and receive text messages from customers in one shared inbox from a single phone number.

New AI tools just launched inside the Heymarket platform, but many customers don't know the value it could bring them.

In response, I was tasked to create a free website experience that showcases the power of AI tools for business texting.

What was the impact of the AI generator after it launched?

The AI generator page officially launched 2/4/24 on Heymarket.com, and quickly become an SEO success.

Leading the site as one of the largest drivers of organic traffic, the page is now one of the top 5 highest visited pages across the entire Heymarket website.

2,912+ AI responses generated

8,110+ unique page visits

1,024+ leads converted from generator

So, what is the value of AI for businesses that use texting?

In 2023, 86% of companies used text messaging to communicate with their customers.

But creating personalized and professional responses takes a lot of thought and time...

AI can help speed up text message response time for businesses trying to connect with their customers.

How did you decide on what
AI experience to design?

In the Heymarket web app, customers can now use AI when composing messages to tune, translate, expand, and shorten and generate suggested responses to the texts they want to send to their customers.

When thinking of how to offer these features to anyone via our marketing site, I wanted to replicate the same AI flow used in Heymarket's message composer for generating a suggested response.

This would reduce the work load for our AI engineers, as well as mimic our features for potential customers to get familiar with.

Suggested response was initial chosen as it was a feature that was thought to be able to attract many different use cases and visitors to the page, as well as being one of the most used AI features in the app.

How did you approach designing the AI website experience?

The user flow for suggested response already existed, but needed to be slightly altered to be user friendly for our target users, which were primarily non-Heymarket users and those who weren't familiar with using our message composer.

They would also not be sending the message directly from the composer, so adding a copy features as the call to action was important.

What did some of the early wireframes look like?

The early wireframes explored different UI and element orientations, improving with feedback over multiple variations for an intuitive, simple generation experience.

Each variation tightened the experience, and pushed the visual design style to create a sleek, on brand design that focuses the visitor towards generating a text response.

How did the user flow evolve
during the design process?

After the design was essentially finalized, testing and feedback from internal stakeholders brought the website launch to a halt.

The finalized design was focused on showcasing the suggested response feature with the ability to change the tone based on the use case of the response.

However, stakeholders decided to re-focus the entire generator on the message tuning experience rather than the suggested message responses, as the responses being generated could cause potential legal and brand harm.

Taking the new generator focus on message response tuning rather than suggesting, the design and flow was to be re-imagined.

What did the final prototype look like?

After tweaking the design flow to focus on tuning rather than suggesting responses, the final design was implemented onto the website and made responsive for mobile visitors.

It features a simple, intuitive flow where visitors can type the general text they want to send, and tune the response to be formal, casual, shorter, or longer as desired.
